Resumen

IHE were asked by the London Health Inequalities Network to report on the likely impact of the recession and welfare reforms in London, and to develop a set of indicators to do so. The first report was published in June 2012, it set out our view of the likely impact of the recession, and welfare reforms, on the social determinants of health and health outcomes. In October 2013, the IHE published an indicator set that was piloted by 5 London boroughs and launched for London analysts in October 2013. PHE have subsequently been working to provide profiles for each of the London boroughs that include the data that is available for each region. They are now available on the PHE website. These will need to be supplemented by data that is only available locally. The aim of the work was to help identify salient issues in terms of monitoring the impact of the recession, so that local leaders could act to mitigate against any negative trends.
